What is Pure Prescriptions Antioxidant Formula?
It's a unique blend of nutrients that have well-documented powerful antioxidant properties: Betatene (natural mixed carotenes including beta carotene), vitamin C, vitamin E and selenium.

What do the antioxidants do, exactly?
Antioxidants chemically deactivate and neutralize free radicals. But most antioxidants only protect certain structures within the cell. No single antioxidant protects every structure from every type of free radical. So it's necessary to take a combination of antioxidants if you want broad protection.

Betatene is a combination of five of the carotenoids that are naturally found in fruits and vegetables: beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin and lutein. Carotenoids are fat-soluble and function in the interior membranes of cells like those in the eyes and gland tissues.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant and therefore functions in the blood and in fluids within cells, protecting many different structures, including teeth/gums and connective tissue.

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant, protecting structures like cell membranes and cholesterol from oxidation.

Selenium is a trace mineral that works in conjunction with the antioxidant glutathione, a very important antioxidant that is naturally present in most cells of the body, especially the kidneys, liver, heart, pancreas and muscles.
