Pure Prescriptions® Releases Sytrinol®
Support For Healthy Cholesterol Available Now

Encinitas, California - October 7, 2004 -Pure Prescriptions®, innovative online retailer and manufacturer of professionally branded health supplements, released Sytrinol - a patented combination of polymethoxylated flavones (PMF's), palm tocotrienols and other ingredients extracted from plants. Sytrinol helps maintain healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels through different mechanisms than statin drugs or fiber.

Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells. It's normal to have cholesterol. It's an important part of a healthy body because it's used for producing cell membranes and some hormones, and serves other needed bodily functions. But too high a level of cholesterol in the blood is a major risk for coronary heart disease, which leads to heart attack. It's also a risk factor for stroke. Hypercholesterolemia is the term for high levels of blood cholesterol.

LDL cholesterol of less than 100 mg/dL is the optimal level. Less than 130 mg/dL is near optimal for most people. A high LDL level (more than 160 mg/dL or 130 mg/dL or above if you have two or more risk factors for cardiovascular disease) reflects an increased risk of heart disease. That's why LDL cholesterol is often called "bad" cholesterol.

According to the latest statistics from the American Heart Association, nearly 105 million American adults have total blood cholesterol values of 200 mg/dL and higher, and about 37 million American adults have levels of 240 or above. In adults, total cholesterol levels of 240 mg/dL or higher are considered high, and levels from 200 to 239 mg/dL are considered borderline-high.

Clinical studies illustrate how Sytrinol works: PMF's decrease apoprotein B, needed to make LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), palm tocotrienols inhibit HMG CoA reductase, a liver enzyme needed to produce cholesterol, and PMF's also decrease a liver enzyme needed to make triglycerides.

"Free of side effects and backed by clinical research, Sytrinol deserves serious consideration by anyone looking for natural, non-drug support for healthy cholesterol levels" said Dr. Chad Larson, Senior Researcher at Pure Prescriptions. Each vegetarian capsule contains 150 mg of Sytrinol.
